World Cuppies

World Cuppies

Description:
This is a small soccer game emulating the World Cup. Everyone will get a partner and they need to think of a name. It could be a country, it could be their favorite food, whatever they want as long as its appropriate. Let’s say my team name was Pizza. So the ball is thrown up in the air. There is only one goal. The goalie can be in there every round or you can rotate goalies accordingly. The object of the game is to score a goal as quickly as you can. Now let’s say I am close to the goal with the ball. I must yell out my team name (Pizza) before I shoot or else the goal does not count. This helps from people stealing other players goals by just putting a foot on the ball. Once there is only a couple teams left they will be eliminated. Depending on the round and number of kids there will be a certain amount of team eliminations each round, until there is one winner in the end. You may also play so there is no eliminations, that the losing teams must do pushups, jumping jacks or whatever you chose.  Another way could be awarding different amounts of points for each goal scored. So if your team was the first to score you get 5 points. The second team 4 points etc. This can be played to a certain amount of points for a winner.

Octopus Tag

 Octopus tag

Description:
This game is usually played on some sort of court so lines can be used. There will be a few octopi on the middle line. They cannot come off the line at any time they only can go sideways on the line. The object for the other kids is to cross the line to the other side without getting tagged. If they are tagged they must join the octopi and stay on the line too. The game is played until there is one kid left. Octopi cannot come off the line and go on the other side of their fellow octopus. If kids are not crossing to the other side and just standing give them a 10 second countdown and if they don’t attempt to cross by the 0 they are now an octopus.

Crab Soccer

 Crab soccer

Materials:
Large beach balls
2 soccer goals

Description:
Divide the kids up into two teams. Get a larger ball for the kids to use and make the goals a little larger. This whole soccer game is played doing the crab walk. So the kids must crab walk everywhere they go. They may not touch the ball with their hands only their feet. Play till about 10 goals or 20 min. Give breaks because crab walking is not an easy task. Large Beach balls would be ideal for this game. You can also put multiple balls in the game at once. Allow goalies if it becomes too early. But only one goalie. Don’t allow defenders to cross a certain line so they don’t sit in the goal.

Another Version is …..

Crab Line Soccer:
Two teams sit on lines a short distance apart. Players on both teams are assigned a number, starting at number one on each team.

Place the soccer ball sits in the center. Official calls a number.

The player from each team who is assigned that number crab walks to the center and attempts to get the ball over the opponents’ goal line.

When a point is scored, the ball is returned to the center and another number is called. Team members may help but not score.

Treasure Island

 Treasure Island
Materials:
·         Hula Hoops
·         Beanbags (balls, mass quantity of safe play toys)
·         Larger Heavy Item (Medicine ball, Big ball, etc.)
·         Cones

This is like steal the treasure but with teams and more treasure. Designate a box in the middle with all the treasure inside. On the outside of the box will be different teams islands marked out by hula hoops. The goal is for a team to enter the box and bring treasure back to their island without being tagged. The team with the most treasure in the end wins. There can also be a larger or heavier item in the middle that is the rare treasure. If this is taken successfully its game over and that team wins. But if this item is taken the guarding team is allowed to leave the box to catch the thief. The winning team will be the new guards.  If people are caught entering the box. They have to sit out by their island until the game is over. You may also play where they have to do a certain amount of exercises before re-entering the game. The Game will end whenever the instructor does a countdown, all the  treasure is taken, or the rare treasure has been taken and put on an island successfully.

Mat Ball

Mat Ball
Materials:
·         4 Mats
·         1 Kickball

Description:
The basic idea of the game is the same as kick ball. The difference here is that you must run around the mats in a clockwise and counter clockwise manner. The only time a point is scored is after the bases have been ran forward and in reverse. This means a run is scored when a player successfully makes it from home-1st-2nd-3rd-home-3rd-2nd-1st -home.
The base runner cannot step off any mat for any reason (This includes overrunning or stepping off of a base), unless they have the intention of running. Once a foot comes off of the mat, the individual must run to the next base.
The pitcher, who is usually a counselor, may 'fake' a throw. In this instance if a base runner steps off of the mat, the pitcher can throw the ball at them (from the waist down) to gain an out.
There are 4 outs in an inning. Then the kicking team and the team on the field Switch. The bases may only have 4 people on them at any time. This means if there is already four people on a base you cannot advance unless someone leaves the mat. Runners may run at anytime unless specifically told by the instructors.

37 Handshakes

37 handshakes

Materials : Cones

Description: This Game is played with a few taggers and everyone else is on one team. You can also play with multiple teams and a few taggers. The object of the game is to save all of your teammates from jail (inner circle). Once everyone is freed from jail the game is finished. The game also can be finished if the taggers catch everyone and put them in jail.

The taggers are allowed to tag any person that enters the large square of cones. If they tag someone they must go in the inner circle (Jail)

The other players may save their teammates from jail by giving those 37 handshakes or high fives. The players in jail need to keep a running count of their handshakes. This means if one teammate gives those 5 handshakes and another 3 handshakes they are at 8 handshakes. So multiple people can free their teammate or just one person. (Make your own rule about both hands being tagged for double the handshakes) Players may get tagged giving handshakes so they need to be careful. Taggers are not allowed outside the outer box or in the inner circle. (jail)

Having multiple teams (boys vs. girls, Counselors vs. Campers) will work if the rule is whoever frees all of their prisoner’s first wins. The taggers will be unbiased in this type of situation.
